This unique workshop will begin with two days of plein air painting around Sedona. Students will be guided in gathering useful notes and making small studies in value and color that will be the basis for studio work on the last two days of class. Over all concept, composition, values, drawing, color and use of edges will all be on the menu while we take our studies and use them to develop a studio work on a larger scale. All media welcome, (Cody will demonstrate in oils).

"Each painting I do begins with an idea, something that's inspired me. I try to distill this in my mind until I've achieved an almost meditative state where I can explore which compositions, color harmonies, etc., will best serve my idea. The balance I'm searching for lies in creating a work that is technically proficient while preserving that which fueled my passion in the first place. The result hopefully will provide the viewer with a perspective they have not seen before."
