"Each painting I do begins with an idea, something that has inspired me. I try to distill this in my mind until I have achieved an almost meditative state where I can explore which compositions, color harmonies, etc., will best serve my idea." Cody has participated in several plein air competitions including the Sedona Plein Air Festival and the Plein Air New Mexico Invitational in Santa Fe where he won the 2007 Artist Choice Award. He is a founding member of the Arizona Plein Air Painters.
