“Nature provides a bountiful array of materials to create vessels of beauty. Nature’s bounty also gives us the knowledge to weave with these materials. By listening and weaving from the heart, wonderful creations emerge,” says Jackie Carlson of her work. She has been weaving teaching and designing baskets for nearly 20 years and has won recognition and awards for her work. Her book, “Flowing Water,” gives detailed instruction and illustrations on the art and what is considered the most difficult basked to weave – the double-woven basket. In her second book she has created graphs for over 100 Cherokee basket designs. Jackie also weaves on a loom.
