Coming from an advertising art
career in London, Philip Grainger
now incorporates a combined career
of fine and commercial art. His
subjects are often the
architecture of Greece, Spain and
Portugal as well as the American
Southwest. These graphic paintings
emphasize the effect of strong
sunlight on adobe walls contrasted
with warm shadows and blue skies
and are widely collected. Among
his collectors are Hugh Downs (ABC
News), Ray Herzog (CEO, 3M
Corporation), Jack Maher
(Publisher, Downbeat Magazine),
Louis Menk (CEO, Burlington
Northern), and David McLean
(Chairman, Canadian National
